MEET OUR STAFF

Arcade Magazine is the University of Central Missouri's student-run literary magazine. The magazine features poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction, and artwork created by UCM undergraduate students. Our staff is made up of our Editors-in-Chief, Managing Editors, Production Editors, Poetry, Fiction, Creative Nonfiction, and Art Directors and Editors, Web and Social Media Editors,  and our Event Planning and Publicity Team. Each staff member plays an important role in the production of our Arcade.

AMBER HALLIER

Social Media & Web, Events & Publicity

Amber Hallier is a fiction editor, poetry editor, member of the event/publicity team, and a social media/web editor of Arcade. She is an English major in her senior year. She’d like to be a short story and poetry writer in the future. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies, writing on her blog, and hanging out with friends.

Katherine is a fiction & creative nonfiction editor, and social media/web editor of Arcade. She is a senior majoring in English and minoring in technical writing and creative writing. She believes words have power and that they should be used to spread positivity to the world. Everyone has a unique story to share, and she enjoys putting those stories on paper, whether they are historical or contemporary. She writes stories in her spare time, cuddles with her three (ornery) cats, writes on her blog , and takes random pictures of flowers and sunsets.

SAGE BENNETTS

Sage M. Bennetts is currently a senior studying Spanish and education. He plans on being a high school Spanish teacher upon graduation. He has published a book of poems and is working on writing a second book of poems and a fictional novel illustrated with art by himself. He loves art and is a major anime nerd.

ALEXIS KING

Alexis King is a simple person. She enjoys looking at old cars, reading books, and writing poetry. She believes the most beautiful things in life take time to discover. You will probably find her under some tree napping or looking up at the stars at night for inspiration. 

BENJAMIN BULLER

Benjamin Buller is an editor and writer from Grandview, Missouri. In his spare time, he enjoys studying linguistics and working on his novels. He hopes to be published by March. His interests outside of writing include studying, cooking, and watching really bad movies. He has been an editor for Arcade since 2018 and has been published in Arcade.

CECILIA SAVALA

Editor in Chief

Cecilia Savala is an English education and creative writing double major and an editor in chief and poetry editor of Arcade. She is also the vice president of Kappa Delta Pi and a member of Sigma Tau Delta. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in The Roadrunner Review, Underground Art and Literary Journal, Barrelhouse, and Lift Every Voice -- An Anthology of Poetry. She lives in Grain Valley with her two kids and two cats and can be found napping in her spare time. 

MAGGIE WARREN

Managing Editor

Maggie Warren is an editor in chief and poetry editor of Arcade. She is majoring in English with minors in technical writing and creative writing. She loves interacting with students and hearing about their writing, and she spends most of her time hanging out with her pets. You can find her work online at magsbewrites.com.

JANOLA SAUTHER

Fiction Editor

Janola Sauther is a creative nonfiction editor of Arcade and a senior majoring in English with a minor in history. Her first published short fiction piece and runner-up for the David Baker Fiction Award, "The Creep," was published in the Spring 2019 issue of Arcade. Janola has a passion for the study of narratives whether they be historical or fictional.

LUCY PARRISH

Managing Editor

Lucy Parrish is a sophomore majoring in secondary English education, with a minor in creative writing. She is a managing editor of Arcade, as well as a fiction and art editor. She sees this as an opportunity to expand her knowledge of writing, as well as pass on what she knows to other people. Lucy hopes to become a published novelist herself one day.

Monica Braun is a managing editor, production editor, and poetry editor of Arcade. She is striving for a major in English with a minor in technical writing. When she isn’t at school, Monica tends to the underworld with her black cat, Bijou. Primarily nocturnal, she spends her days dreaming of the future and her nights practicing magic and running free with her friends.

LAUREN LOGAN

Social Media & Web, Events & Publicity

Lauren Logan is a part of the social media and web editor team as well as the event planning and publicity team of Arcade. She is currently majoring in English literature with a double minor in creative writing and women, gender, and sexuality studies. She loves to write short stories, poetry, and short articles in her free time and has recently been published on Medium.com. When she is not writing or doing school work, she can be found hiking, playing video games, or watching cartoons with her four-year-old son.

VERONICA KNOX

Event Planning & Publicity

Veronica Knox is a junior studying political science. She is a member of the event planning and publicity team of Arcade. She is also a representative of the Student Government Association and the vice president of the Honors College. Her favorite author is Kurt Vonnegut.

Lydia Noland is a fiction and poetry editor of Arcade. She is majoring in English and minoring in technical writing. She hopes to become an English professor in the future. In her spare time, Lydia loves watching horror films and baking.
