Roaches

Josh Cobb

I have sunk so low into the carpet

I no longer am able to differentiate myself apart

from the mounds of dust littered across the floor

or from the roaches that roam beneath my bed.

I stay thin, but have a stomach full of shame.

Try to stay clean, but always wake up

as a stain, waiting for someone

to come and scrape me off the wall.

I need something more.
